The town of Kastl lies in East Bavaria in the beautiful Lauterachtal valley. The historic monastery, dating from the 12th century, watches over the town and is worth a visit. The Franconian city of Nuremburg can be reached within 45 minutes by car. The towns of Neumarkt and Amberg can be reached in 20 minutes, and the medieval town of Regensburg lies just an hour’s drive away. Alternatively, take a day trip across the border into the Czech Republic, which is just 90 minutes away by car.
